Make Your Plan to Vote
Primary Election: Tuesday, August 11, 2026
Connecticut’s primary election is Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Polls will be open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Only registered members of the Democratic party may vote in the Democratic primary.

Party Affiliation Deadline
To switch political parties before the primary, the deadline was May 11, 2026. Unaffiliated voters may enroll in a party by noon on August 10 to participate in that party’s primary.

Early Voting in Connecticut
Connecticut voters can now cast their ballot before Election Day through early in-person voting.
Early voting for the August primary runs from August 3 through August 9 at designated early voting locations in every municipality across the state.
Voting early is secure, convenient, and helps ensure your voice is heard on your schedule.

Absentee Ballot Voting
Absentee ballot voting will become available July 21. You can return absentee ballots via mail or the secure ballot drop box in your town.
All voters are now eligible to vote via absentee ballot and may request an absentee ballot. Applications are available online or through your municipal clerk’s office.
You must first fill out an absentee ballot application. Then you will receive an absentee ballot in the mail.
Completed absentee ballots must be returned to your local town clerk by Election Day. They can be mailed, not postmarked, to arrive before or by Primary Day or you can drop it off at your town’s secure ballot drop box.

Same Day Voter Registration
Eligible Connecticut residents may register and vote in person on Election Day. Same Day Registration is available at designated locations in each town and city.
